A Steam leak has revealed details about the upcoming first DLC for Assassin's Creed Shadows, titled "Claws of Awaji." This expansion, set in feudal Japan, promises a significant amount of new content.
Assassin's Creed Shadows, the first game in the franchise to be set in Japan, features dual protagonists: Yasuke, a Samurai, and Naoe, a Shinobi. The game's development has been fraught with challenges, including negative reactions to character design and multiple delays. The latest delay pushed the release date from November 15th, 2024, to March 20th, 2025.
The leaked Steam update, since removed, detailed "Claws of Awaji's" features: a new region to explore, a new weapon type, additional skills, gear, and abilities. The expansion is expected to add over 10 hours of gameplay. Pre-ordering the game will reportedly grant access to both the DLC and a bonus mission.
The Leak and Recent Delays
The leak coincides with the game's most recent delay announcement. Ubisoft cited the need for further polishing and refinement as the reason for the postponement. This news comes at a time of uncertainty for Ubisoft, with rumors of a potential Tencent acquisition circulating following a period of underperforming titles.
This significant DLC leak offers a glimpse into the expanded content awaiting players in Assassin's Creed Shadows, adding further anticipation (and perhaps some frustration) to the already lengthy wait for the game's release.
