Ubisoft has officially announced the global release times for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, marking a departure from the usual staggered releases and early access options seen in previous titles. The game will launch simultaneously across the globe, with no option for early access through additional payments, ensuring a fair start for all players.
For those playing on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will unlock at 12am local time on March 20. However, PC gamers should note that release times vary depending on the platform. On Steam, the game will be available at different times globally, ranging from 9pm PDT on March 19 in Los Angeles to 3pm AEDT on March 20 in Sydney. For those using Ubisoft's own platform, Ubi Connect, the game will also release at varying times, starting from 9pm PDT on March 19 in Los Angeles to 11pm AEDT on March 19 in Sydney.
Pre-loading is currently available on Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 5, and PC, allowing eager fans to prepare for the launch.
The stakes are high for Assassin’s Creed Shadows following several delays and the underwhelming sales of last year's Star Wars Outlaws. Ubisoft has faced numerous challenges, including high-profile flops, layoffs, studio closures, and game cancellations leading up to this release.
IGN’s review of Assassin’s Creed Shadows awarded it an 8/10, praising the game for refining its open-world mechanics and delivering one of the best iterations of the series in recent years. The review highlighted that "By sharpening the edges of its existing systems, Assassin’s Creed Shadows creates one of the best versions of the open-world style it’s been honing for the last decade."
