Larian Studios announced on a Steam post that a stress test for Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 8 will begin in January. This test will be available on PC via Steam, and on Xbox and PlayStation consoles. Mac and GOG users will not be included in this test. Registration for the stress test is currently open.
Larian plans to thoroughly test Patch 8 for bugs and gameplay issues before its official release. They stated their intention to use player feedback to identify any problems. A key component of the stress test will be cross-play functionality. Larian acknowledged the challenges of implementing cross-play in a game of Baldur's Gate 3's scale and invited players to help test this feature. They encouraged players to share the registration link with friends or join a group on the Larian Studios Discord server.
Although Patch 8 marks the final major update for Baldur's Gate 3, Larian reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing support, particularly for modders. They highlighted significant upcoming updates to enhance modding capabilities, enabling players to create and share their own stories. Since the release of official mod tools in September, the game has seen over 70 million module downloads and over 3,000 mod uploads.
