Effective Status Effects: Poison (3x), Sleep (1x), Paralysis (2x), Blastblight (2x), Stun (2x), Exhaust (2x)

Xu Wu's exceptional agility makes it a frustrating opponent. Its dark coloration and unusual form make it difficult to discern its orientation. Adding to the challenge, Xu Wu utilizes its multiple arms and can vanish into walls, reappearing from the ceiling to launch surprise attacks. This behavior is limited to its nest, so exercise extra caution in that area.
Xu Wu’s significant weakness to Ice makes it a prime target for ice-based attacks. Utilize Ice ammo with ranged weapons, or equip gear that inflicts ice elemental damage with melee weapons. Consider the Frost Jewel decoration for the Ice Attack skill and carry Frost Pods for additional ice damage.
Beyond its agile movements, Xu Wu employs a powerful grab attack. Should you be caught, your weapon will be unusable. However, you have roughly two seconds to escape. Use your slinger immediately, with Frost Pods proving particularly effective in breaking free.
Xu Wu's mouth is its most vulnerable point, though its location underneath the body makes it a challenging target, primarily visible during dive attacks. Landing a powerful hit during this moment can inflict significant damage and potentially break the mouth, yielding Xu Wu's fang.
If a mouth attack isn't feasible, the head is another excellent target, boasting a 4-star weakness to blunt and cut damage, and a 3-star weakness to ammo damage.
Xu Wu possesses a 3-star weakness to Poison. Bows with Poison Coating are ideal for inflicting this status ailment. While other status effects can be attempted, Sleep is relatively ineffective.

Once Xu Wu's health drops to 20%, set a trap—either a Pitfall Trap or a Shock Trap. Lure Xu Wu into the trap using meat or even yourself as bait. Quickly fire a tranquilizer to secure the capture; failure to do so within a few seconds will allow Xu Wu to escape.
Mastering these strategies will significantly improve your chances of successfully hunting and capturing Xu Wu in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. Remember, its agility demands constant awareness of your stamina.
