Tomb Raider's iconic heroine, Lara Croft, is officially joining the cast of Dead by Daylight, Behaviour Interactive has confirmed. This highly anticipated addition follows recent additions like Vecna from Stranger Things and Chucky from Child's Play, solidifying Dead by Daylight's reputation for incorporating beloved characters from various gaming franchises.
Dead by Daylight players can expect Lara Croft, modeled after the 2013 Survivor trilogy reboot, to arrive on all platforms July 16th. PC players on Steam will gain early access through a public test build. While a gameplay trailer is yet to be released, Behaviour Interactive has described Lara as "the ultimate survivor," hinting at thrilling gameplay utilizing her signature adventurous skills within the Entity's Realm.
Beyond Lara Croft's arrival, Behaviour Interactive's 8th-anniversary livestream revealed exciting updates: a new 2v8 game mode pitting two Killers against eight Survivors, a collaboration with Supermassive Games featuring Frank Stone, and a forthcoming Castlevania chapter.
This announcement coincides with renewed interest in the Tomb Raider franchise. Earlier this year, Aspyr released a remastered collection of the original Tomb Raider trilogy (1-3), and Tomb Raider: Legend received a PS5 port (though reception has been mixed). Adding to the excitement, a new animated series, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, featuring Hayley Atwell as Lara's voice, is slated for an October 2024 release.
