Dragon Quest 12 continues to be in development, with series creator Yuji Horii revealing that updates will be shared gradually. Speaking on a livestream with his radio show group KosoKoso Hōsō Kyoku, Horii confirmed that the team at Square Enix is diligently working on the game. This marks the first update since May 2024, when Horii acknowledged the passing of the series' iconic character designer Akira Toriyama and composer Koichi Sugiyama. Additionally, the lead producer Yu Miyake had already transitioned to head Square Enix's mobile game division by that time.
Amid concerns from fans about the potential cancellation of Dragon Quest 12 due to restructuring at Square Enix and a lack of updates, Horii's recent comments have reassured the community that the project remains active.
