Dragon Quest 3 Remake: Conquering Baramos's Lair – A Comprehensive Guide

After acquiring all six Orbs and hatching Ramia, the Everbird, you're ready to tackle Baramos's Lair in Dragon Quest 3 Remake. This challenging dungeon serves as the ultimate test before venturing into the perilous underworld. This guide will walk you through locating and completing Baramos's Lair.

Baramos, the formidable Archfiend, casts a long shadow over the game's first half. Access to his lair is granted only after obtaining Ramia. Aim for a party level of at least 20 before attempting this challenging encounter. Within the lair lie several valuable items, detailed in the sections below.

Reaching Baramos's Lair

Following your victory at the Maw of Necrogond and the acquisition of the Silver Orb, Ramia becomes available. You can summon her from either the Shrine of the Everbird or the Necrogond Shrine.

North of the Necrogond Shrine lies a mountainous island—the location of Baramos's Lair. Ramia will transport you directly to the dungeon entrance. Simply proceed north to enter.

Navigating Baramos's Lair

Unlike typical dungeons, Baramos's Lair in DQ3 Remake is a sprawling complex of interconnected indoor and outdoor areas. The objective is to reach Baramos himself.

The initial area, "Baramos's Lair – Surroundings," acts as a central hub. To streamline the process, we’ll outline the main path to the boss battle, followed by a treasure map for each section.

Main Path to Baramos:

  1. Upon entering from the overworld, bypass the main entrance. Instead, circumnavigate the castle's eastern side toward the northeastern pool.
  2. Ascend the stairs near the pool, turn left (west), and climb the next set of stairs. Enter the door on your right.
  3. Navigate the Eastern Tower to its rooftop exit.
  4. Cross the castle roof southwestward, descend, and proceed west through the gaps in the northwestern double wall. Use the northwestern staircase.
  5. The staircase leads to the Central Tower. Use Safe Passage to cross electrified floor panels and descend to B1 Passageway A (southwest stairs).
  6. In B1 Passageway A, head east to the easternmost staircase.
  7. Ascend in the South-East Tower, moving northeast to the upper level. Then, head west and descend to the western section. Cross the grass northwestward and enter the only available door.
  8. This door leads to a small section in the Central Tower's northeast corner. Exit via the single available path.
  9. You'll reappear in B1 Passageway B. Proceed north to the staircase.
  10. Enter the Throne Room. Avoid floor panels and exit southward.
  11. You're back in the Surroundings. The Throne Room is in the northwest. Head east to the northeastern island structure—Baramos's Den, the boss arena.
