Nintendo enthusiasts on the West Coast have a new destination to explore as Nintendo opens its San Francisco store today, May 15, located in Union Square at 331 Powell Street. This marks the second official Nintendo store in the United States, following the renowned New York location, which underwent a transformation from the Nintendo World Store to Nintendo NY before its reopening in 2016.
IGN had the opportunity to visit the new San Francisco store to see what Nintendo has in store for its fans. Additionally, we had an exclusive interview with Nintendo of America's President, Doug Bowser, to discuss the strategic decision behind opening their first West Coast store at this time.
During our conversation, we couldn't resist delving into the much-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2, set to launch on June 5. We pressed Bowser for details on the Switch 2's availability in the U.S. at launch and beyond, as well as his thoughts on the controversial Game-Key Cards and other related topics.
