Formovie Episode One Hardware Review: Projection Paradise?

Here at Droid Gamers, we're always excited to explore new tech, and the Formovie Episode One projector caught our attention for its potential to transform mobile gaming into a big-screen experience. Designed to be budget-friendly, this projector certainly delivers on that promise, despite a few minor issues.

Right out of the box, you'll find the projector itself, a remote (batteries not included), a power cable, and a manual. While it may not have the robust feel of more expensive models, its lighter weight—coming in at just three pounds—makes it impressively portable. This is perfect for those who want to take their entertainment on the go.

For connectivity, the Episode One offers a streamlined setup with one USB-A port, one HDMI port, and a single audio jack. While this might be limiting for some, it's quite sufficient for most users, especially considering the cost.

Performance-wise, the projector boasts 150 ISO lumens. It's not the brightest on the market, and struggled a bit in direct sunlight during our tests. However, it excelled in darker environments, which is what you'd expect from a projector at this price point. Both films and TV shows were displayed with clarity, and streaming games worked smoothly as well.

For the best image quality, we found that positioning the projector at least 10 feet away from the screen was ideal. The audio from the built-in speaker, while functional, has a tinny quality. For a better audio experience, pairing the Episode One with an external speaker is highly recommended.

The user interface is where the Episode One shines. Its simplicity makes it user-friendly, and the budget-conscious design actually enhances its ease of use compared to some pricier, more complicated projectors we've tested.

In conclusion, the Formovie Episode One is an excellent entry-level projector. It may not excel in any single aspect, but it offers a solid, all-around performance that should satisfy most casual users.

*As an added bonus, if you purchase an Episode One projector before May 27th, you'll receive a Netflix gift card worth $15/€15. Don't miss out on this deal—click here to check it out.*
