Based on a game developer's resume, Gotham Knights may be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2. This intriguing possibility was highlighted by YouTuber Doctre81 on January 5, 2025. The resume, belonging to a former QLOC employee (2018-2023), lists Gotham Knights alongside titles like Mortal Kombat 11 and Tales of Vesperia, notably specifying two unreleased platforms.
One platform is likely the original Nintendo Switch, given a past ESRB rating (since removed) for the game on that console. However, performance issues on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S might have hindered a Switch port. The second unreleased platform strongly suggests the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
While no official confirmation exists from Warner Bros. Games or Nintendo, the Switch 2 is the only major unreleased console currently anticipated. The previous ESRB rating further fuels speculation.
Initially released in October 2022 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X, Gotham Knights' potential Switch release was briefly hinted at by the ESRB rating in 2023, leading to speculation of a Nintendo Direct reveal—which didn't materialize. This past rating, coupled with the recent YouTube report, now points towards a possible Switch 2 launch.
Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa's May 7, 2024, tweet promised further details on the Switch's successor "within this fiscal year" (ending March 2025). He also confirmed backward compatibility with original Switch software and Nintendo Switch Online. The use of physical cartridges remains unconfirmed.
