A former Rockstar Games designer has shared insights about GTA 6 and predicts fan reactions to the highly anticipated installment in the Grand Theft Auto franchise, scheduled for release next year.
In a recent interview with YouTube channel GTAVIoclock, former Rockstar developer Ben Hinchliffe offered exclusive details about the upcoming GTA 6. Having contributed to multiple Rockstar titles including GTA 6, GTA 5, Red Dead Redemption 2, and L.A. Noire before departing the company, Hinchliffe possesses unique insights into the project.
Discussing GTA 6's development progress, Hinchliffe revealed to GTAVIoclock that he had access to "many new elements, including content and narrative developments," expressing admiration for the game's evolution. "Having seen its state when I left and anticipating the final version, I'm curious to witness how much has changed - and how significantly," he commented.
Rockstar Games debuted the official GTA 6 trailer last year, introducing new protagonists, the Vice City setting, and plot elements promising an immersive criminal adventure. Scheduled for Fall 2025 release exclusively on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, information remains scarce as Rockstar maintains its characteristic secrecy. However, Hinchliffe confidently stated that GTA 6 represents a quantum leap for the studio.
"Each Rockstar title demonstrates measurable progress," he explained. "Every game iteration advances realism - from character behavior to environmental details. I believe they've surpassed expectations once again, continuing their tradition of innovation."

Regarding the game's development status since his departure three years ago, Hinchliffe suggested GTA 6 has undergone extensive refinement and optimization. Currently, Rockstar's team is likely focused on debugging and addressing performance issues during these final development stages.
When asked about anticipated fan reactions, Hinchliffe predicted an overwhelmingly positive response to the game's unprecedented realism. "It will astonish players and achieve phenomenal sales, as the series consistently does. After years of speculation following GTA 5, I'm genuinely excited for gamers to finally experience it firsthand."
