Treyarch has officially announced the launch date for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone Season 2: Tuesday, January 28th. This marks the end of Season 1, an impressive 75-day run, making it one of the longest seasons in Call of Duty history.
While specifics on Season 2's content remain under wraps, anticipation is high. The exceptionally long Season 1 followed the game's record-breaking launch, achieving the highest player count in its first 30 days. However, recent weeks have seen a noticeable player decline, attributed to ongoing issues with cheating in Ranked Play and persistent server problems. Season 2 is expected to address these concerns and revitalize the player base with fresh content.
The Season 2 launch date was revealed in a recent update addressing Zombies mode issues. While some fixes were postponed, Treyarch confirmed the January 28th release, promising a detailed blog post closer to the launch date.
Season 1 delivered a substantial amount of new content, including multiplayer maps, modes, weapons, and events, alongside a significant Warzone overhaul. This included a new movement system, weapons, gameplay updates, and the Area-99 Resurgence map. The season also featured the return of popular maps like Nuketown and Hacienda.
Looking ahead, Treyarch has hinted at more classic map remasters for Season 2, though they've emphasized the importance of original content. Associate Creative Director Miles Leslie previously stated that no Black Ops map is off the table for remasters, but original map creation remains a priority.
