The official synopsis provides an intriguing setup: Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet's ecology has shown to be largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. The remaining dinosaurs are confined to isolated equatorial environments that mirror the climates in which they once flourished. Within this tropical biosphere, the three most colossal creatures across land, sea, and air possess DNA that could unlock a groundbreaking drug with life-saving potential for humanity.
Academy Award nominee Scarlett Johansson stars as Zora Bennett, a skilled covert operations expert tasked with leading a top-secret mission to retrieve this crucial genetic material. When her operation collides with a civilian family whose boating trip was disrupted by aggressive aquatic dinosaurs, they find themselves stranded on a forbidden island that once housed a secretive Jurassic Park research facility. Amidst a landscape teeming with diverse dinosaur species, they uncover a sinister and shocking secret that has been concealed from the world for decades.
The final trailer highlights several key scenes, including the river raft sequence inspired by Michael Crichton's original Jurassic Park novel. David Koepp, returning to the franchise, mentioned in January that he revisited Crichton's novels to refresh his approach for this sequel. He incorporated elements from the first novel that were not used in the 1993 film, including a long-desired sequence that is now featured in Jurassic World Rebirth.
The trailer also introduces new dinosaur species, such as the 'D-Rex,' officially known as Distortus Rex. This mutant dinosaur, a hybrid of a T-Rex and a Rancor from Star Wars, was described by director Gareth Edwards as "kind of like if the T-Rex was designed by H.R. Giger, and then that whole thing had sex with a Rancor."
Additionally, the trailer features winged Mutadons, a fearsome blend of pterosaur and raptor, as described by Koepp. These creatures add to the film's roster of menacing dinosaurs.
