Krysten Ritter is officially set to reprise her role as Jessica Jones in the upcoming second season of Daredevil: Born Again. The announcement was made during the Disney Upfront presentation in New York, as reported by Variety. This news comes after months of speculation and rumors about the potential return of characters from the Netflix Defenders series into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Ritter joined her co-star Charlie Cox on stage to share her enthusiasm about returning to the role. "It’s so great to be back, returning to Jessica after three seasons and The Defenders and now joining the MCU," Ritter stated. She teased fans by saying, "I’m so excited to bring back this iconic character, and without giving too much away, there is much more in store for Jessica Jones. This is going to be an incredible season!"

Ritter first brought Jessica Jones to life in 2015 with the debut of Jessica Jones Season 1 on Netflix. The series continued with two more seasons and the team-up event The Defenders. However, as Netflix's partnership with Marvel for original programming came to a close, the future of Ritter's character seemed uncertain.
The landscape changed in 2021 when Disney regained the rights to certain Marvel characters, including Jessica Jones. Following Cox's cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home and his starring role in the Daredevil: Born Again series on Disney+, fans began to hope for the return of other beloved Netflix heroes. With the Punisher playing a key role in the first season of Daredevil: Born Again, it's fitting that Ritter is now confirmed to return for Season 2.
Ritter last portrayed Jessica Jones in Season 3, which aired in 2019. Her comments at the upfront presentation hint at future appearances of the character within the MCU, but for now, fans can look forward to seeing her in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. Although a release date has not been announced, showrunner Dario Scardapane has indicated that new episodes will be available in March 2026.
