The Kart's construction begins with a LEGO Technic mesh, secured by pins and reinforced with bricks, forming the vehicle's floorboard. The body shell components, including rockets/exhaust pipes, side panels, and the steering mechanism, attach via rods and clamps. The steering mechanism is particularly noteworthy, as it elegantly blends form and function. It connects to the front of the set with clamps and folds over the hood like a hinged storm door. Turning the steering wheel directly affects the front wheels, adding a realistic touch to the build.

Despite its seemingly simple appearance, the Kart's construction involves numerous meticulous steps, resulting in a surprisingly sophisticated finished product. This juxtaposition of complexity and playful whimsy makes the build uniquely rewarding.

Following the Kart, you assemble Mario, using a construction method similar to The Mighty Bowser set from three years ago. The process starts with the torso, utilizing ball-and-socket joints at the extremities, followed by the legs, arms, and finally, the head and hat. The hat, featuring two smaller builds to achieve its signature bent look, is the most intricate part of Mario's assembly.

Building Mario allows you to appreciate the finer details that contribute to his iconic appearance, such as the hair peeking out from under his hat, the markings on his gloves, and the rolled-up cuffs of his jeans. Unfortunately, Mario cannot be detached from the Kart; his torso is anchored directly to a gray plate that connects to the Kart's seat.
