The official trailer for the highly anticipated live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch has dropped, offering fans an exciting glimpse into the new interpretations of beloved characters. Maia Kealoha steps into the iconic role of Lilo, bringing her own charm to the character originally portrayed by Daveigh Chase in the 2002 animated classic. Meanwhile, Courtney B. Vance shines as the serious yet endearing Cobra Bubbles, while Billy Magnussen brings his flair to the role of Pleakley.
In this trailer, we see more of Stitch than ever before, but it’s Kealoha’s portrayal of Lilo that truly takes center stage. The footage also introduces intriguing twists, such as Jumba and Pleakley appearing disguised as their human counterparts during parts of their time on Earth, rather than in their usual alien forms. Fans will delight in spotting Pleakley briefly in his alien guise.
The trailer pays homage to several memorable moments from the original film, including Stitch arriving in a dazzling meteor-like descent, his transformation into a dog at the shelter, and the poignant line, “Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.”
Set for release in theaters on May 23, 2025, Lilo & Stitch joins the growing list of live-action remakes of cherished Disney classics, following close behind the live-action adaptation of Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs, which hits screens on March 21, 2025.
