Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Sells Exceptionally Well

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's Resurgence: Over 200,000 Copies Sold!

Released late last year, the Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP remaster has reportedly exceeded 200,000 units sold, demonstrating strong player interest in this classic action title. Despite initial technical hurdles and controversy surrounding content changes, the game's sales figures clearly indicate significant demand.

Developed originally by Grasshopper Manufacture (known for the No More Heroes series), Lollipop Chainsaw casts players as a chainsaw-wielding cheerleader battling zombies. While the original developer didn't helm the remaster, Dragami Games delivered a visually enhanced version with improved gameplay features.

Months after its September 2024 launch, Dragami Games announced the impressive sales milestone of over 200,000 copies across all platforms (current and last-gen consoles, plus PC).

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's Triumphant Sales Figures

Players take on the role of Juliet Starling, a San Romero High cheerleader who uncovers her zombie-hunting heritage when her school is infested with the undead. Juliet's signature chainsaw powers intense hack-and-slash combat against hordes of zombies and formidable bosses, reminiscent of titles like Bayonetta.

The original 2012 release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 achieved even greater success, selling over one million units. The game's popularity likely stemmed from the unique collaboration between Goichi Suda (renowned game designer) and James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy director), who contributed to the narrative.

While future plans for Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, such as additional content or a sequel, remain unannounced, the sales success bodes well for remasters of other cult-classic games. This positive trend is further supported by the recent release of Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, bringing another Grasshopper Manufacture title to modern gaming platforms.
