As the highly anticipated next season of Daredevil approaches, fans are buzzing with excitement, and its creators are already contemplating what lies ahead—including the possibility of a Defenders reunion. In a recent feature on EW, Marvel Studios' head of streaming and TV, Brad Winderbaum, expressed enthusiasm about bringing together the street-level heroes of Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist, collectively known as The Defenders.
Although no official plans have been confirmed, Winderbaum told EW, "It’s certainly exciting to be able to play in that sandbox... Obviously, we don’t have the unlimited storytelling resources like a comic book, where if you can draw it, you can do it. We’re dealing with actors and time and the massive scale of production in order to build a cinematic universe, especially on television."
He further noted, "But I can just say that all those variables taken into account, it is certainly something that is creatively extremely exciting and that we are very much exploring."
We already know that Daredevil: Born Again will serve as a direct continuation of the Daredevil narrative introduced on Netflix. Moreover, Netflix briefly hosted its own Marvel universe through series such as Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage. Given Winderbaum's remarks, it’s possible that Daredevil: Born Again could act as a springboard to reintroduce these characters under Disney’s banner via Disney+. After all, the new season features Jon Bernthal reprising his role as The Punisher, marking another crossover from Netflix to Disney+.
For now, fans will need to wait until the premiere of Daredevil: Born Again on March 4 to speculate further about how this series might connect with the broader MCU.
