The acclaimed hero shooter, Marvel Rivals, has taken the gaming world by storm on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. However, its developer, NetEase, has been clear about not bringing the game to the original Nintendo Switch, much to the disappointment of Nintendo enthusiasts. But with the buzz around the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, there's a glimmer of hope for Switch fans eager to dive into the action.

During a recent interview at the DICE Summit in Las Vegas, Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu shared promising news regarding a potential release on the Nintendo Switch 2. Wu stated, "We're already in contact with Nintendo and working on some development kits. And whenever we find that we could provide great performance for our game on Switch 2, we're open to that. The reason why we didn't launch it onto the Switch was that the first generation of that device couldn't provide a great experience for our gameplay. So if it could achieve that goal, we're open to that."

The Nintendo Switch 2 was officially announced last month, promising to be a more powerful and larger iteration of its predecessor. While details on its capabilities are still scarce, it appears to feature a mouse-like controller functionality that could enhance the gameplay experience for shooters like Marvel Rivals, making it more akin to a PC experience. How this feature will ultimately function is yet to be fully revealed.

Currently, the Nintendo Switch 2 does not have a set release date, but a Nintendo Direct is scheduled for April 2, where more information might be shared. Meanwhile, Marvel Rivals is already available on other platforms, and it has received high praise, earning an 8/10 in our review, where we noted that "it may be following closely in the slipstream of the hero shooters that have come before it, but by doing so Marvel Rivals has firmly placed itself in a strong position to take the crown for itself." Fans can look forward to the addition of The Human Torch and The Thing to the roster on February 21.
