The release date for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater was officially revealed during Sony's State of Play 2025 presentation, confirming previous leaks. A new trailer accompanied the announcement, solidifying the August 28, 2025 launch.
The PlayStation Store had prematurely listed the release date and trailer last week, both of which were subsequently validated during the State of Play broadcast.
Intriguingly, the presentation also hinted at an Ape Escape crossover, with a concluding "And More" suggesting additional collaborations are in the works. This first crossover appears to be a nod to the original Metal Gear Solid 3's monkey minigame, where Snake used stun grenades and his unique "Monkey Shaker" weapon.
While boasting a new first-person viewpoint, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater remains remarkably faithful to its predecessor. IGN's preview described it as a "very shiny HD remaster," praising its visual fidelity but noting a potential missed opportunity for a more substantial remake. The game offers a visually stunning nostalgic experience, perhaps overly committed to its source material.
