Konami Hints at Potential Metal Gear Solid 4 Remake and Next-Gen Ports
Konami has fueled speculation about a possible Metal Gear Solid 4 (MGS4) remake and its inclusion in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2. The news follows rumors and fan demand for the PS3 exclusive to become available on modern consoles.
In an interview with IGN, Konami producer Noriaki Okamura acknowledged the considerable fan interest in bringing MGS4 to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. While remaining officially silent on concrete plans, Okamura's comments strongly suggest a possibility. He stated that Konami is "internally concerned about what we should be doing for the future of the series," and hinted at the connection between Master Collection Vol. 1 (containing MGS 1-3) and what might be in store for future installments.
The possibility of an MGS4 remake within Master Collection Vol. 2 has been fueled by several factors. Last year, placeholder buttons for MGS4, MGS5, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker appeared on Konami's official timeline, further adding to the speculation reported by IGN. Adding to the intrigue, David Hayter, the English voice actor for Solid Snake, hinted at his involvement in an MGS4-related project on social media.
While Konami has yet to officially confirm any details regarding Master Collection Vol. 2 or an MGS4 remake, the combination of Okamura's comments, previous reports, and Hayter's social media activity strongly suggests that fans might finally get to experience MGS4 on platforms beyond the PS3. The wait continues, but hope remains high.
