Nintendo Delays Japanese Alarmo Release Despite Global Availability
Nintendo has announced a postponement of the Alarmo alarm clock's general retail release in Japan due to insufficient stock. The launch, initially planned for February 2025, is now delayed indefinitely. This decision follows unexpectedly high demand.
Current production and inventory levels cannot meet the demand, prompting the delay. While the impact on international availability (March 2025 launch planned) remains unclear, Nintendo Japan has implemented a temporary solution. A pre-order system will be available exclusively to Japanese Nintendo Switch Online subscribers starting mid-December, with shipments commencing in early February 2025. The precise pre-order start date is forthcoming.
The Alarmo, a gaming-themed alarm clock featuring music from popular Nintendo franchises (Super Mario, Zelda, Pikmin, Splatoon, RingFit Adventure, and more via updates), launched globally in October. Its immediate popularity overwhelmed Nintendo, leading to the cessation of online orders and a lottery system for remaining stock. The alarm clock quickly sold out in Japanese and New York Nintendo stores.
Further updates on pre-orders and the rescheduled general release date will be announced soon.
