Nintendo has recently announced the upgrade costs for two more games transitioning from the original Nintendo Switch to the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition: Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree. The price for these upgrades is notably higher than expected.
Previously, upgrading The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom from the original Switch version to the Switch 2 Edition was set at $9.99 each. However, as NintendoLife reported, the upgrades for Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree are more than double this amount.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced Edition of Breath of the Wild offers improved visuals and performance, achievements, and integration with the new "Zelda Notes" service within the Nintendo Switch Online app. Owners of the original Switch version of Breath of the Wild can purchase an "upgrade pack" for $10 to enjoy these enhancements.
The Switch 2 Edition of Kirby and the Forgotten Land includes new story content in the Star-Crossed World. On the other hand, Super Mario Party Jamboree's Switch 2 Edition introduces Jamboree TV, which utilizes the Joy-Con 2's mouse controls, the Switch 2 microphone, and a separately sold USB-C camera. This edition also boasts enhanced resolution up to 1440p in TV mode, improved frame rates, new minigames, and online features.
Although U.S. prices are not yet listed on the American Nintendo eShop—possibly due to uncertainties related to President Trump's tariffs—the UK Nintendo eShop has the Kirby and the Forgotten Land upgrade pack priced at £16.99 / €19.99, significantly higher than the £7.99 / €9.99 for upgrading either Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom.
The upgrade cost for Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV is similarly priced, suggesting a U.S. price of $19.99. This higher upgrade fee may be linked to the $80 price tag for both Kirby and The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World and Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV. The original Switch versions of these games are priced at $59.99 each, making them $20 cheaper.
For those not upgrading, here are the U.S. prices for the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------It's worth noting that subscribers to Nintendo Switch Online and the Expansion Pack can upgrade Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom at no additional cost. However, no such offer is currently available for those looking to upgrade Kirby or Super Mario Party Jamboree.
Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders opened on April 24, maintaining a price of $449.99. The high demand led Nintendo to warn U.S. customers that pre-order delivery on release day is not guaranteed. For more details, you can refer to IGN's Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order guide.
