The highly anticipated Nvidia RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 are set to launch on January 30th, but concerns about limited availability are already surfacing. Reports from retailers and manufacturers suggest significant shortages, particularly for the RTX 5090, are likely.

Potential buyers are already lining up, highlighting the intense demand for these high-end GPUs, despite their hefty price tags of $1,999 and $999 respectively. MSI, a major manufacturer, attributes the initial scarcity to the Lunar New Year, anticipating stock levels to improve in February.

Several retailers have confirmed the limited supply, with some reporting receiving only a handful of RTX 5090 units. One retailer even described the RTX 5090 launch as having "the worst availability."

In response to the growing concerns, Nvidia issued a statement acknowledging the high demand and potential for stock-outs, assuring consumers that they are working to increase supply.

However, the limited supply is fueling concerns about scalping. Several listings on eBay already show the RTX 5090 being resold at exorbitant prices, significantly exceeding the MSRP. One listing shows an Asus ROG Astral RTX 5090 priced at a staggering $5,750.

Adding to Nvidia's challenges, the company's share price experienced a significant drop following the announcement of a new Chinese AI model, DeepSeek, which poses a potential threat to Nvidia's datacenter GPU sales.
