Developer Pocketpair has announced Palworld! More Than Just Pals, a dating sim set within their massively popular monster-catching universe. And no, it's not an April Fools' Day prank this time around.
On March 31, the team behind the 2024 Pokémon-like survival experience unveiled their plans to add a romantic twist to their lineup. Normally, fans might take such news at face value, but with April Fools' Day looming just around the corner, many are approaching the announcement with skepticism. The gaming community is well aware that the internet will soon be flooded with fake games and quirky announcements from developers, making it hard to discern what's real.
Pocketpair, however, is keen to assure the skeptics: *Palworld! More Than Just Pals* is indeed a legitimate video game. The concept stemmed from last year's April Fools' Day jest, where they playfully announced *More Than Just Pals* as a fictional title. Now, it's becoming a reality and is set to launch on PC via Steam at a future date yet to be specified.Palworld! More Than Just Pals promises to be a unique addition to Pocketpair's universe. The game invites players to immerse themselves in the world of Palagos Private Academy, where they can befriend and potentially fall in love with a diverse cast of student Pals, including characters like the "cute" and "mysterious" Katress and the "timid" Chillet, familiar names from the Palworld creature roster.
“You, the protagonist, enroll as a transfer student in the prestigious Palagos Private Academy,” Pocketpair's official description states. “You will meet unique friends (pals) and enjoy school life through friendship and romance. It's up to you whether you stay friends with the pals, develop romantic relationships with them, or even dismember and eat them.”
This doesn't concern April Fools :)

As Palworld celebrated its one-year anniversary in January and continues to roll out updates, fans have plenty to look forward to while awaiting the dating sim. Recent updates have included crossplay support, Blueprint upgrades, a photo mode, and more. Meanwhile, for those holding out hope for a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Palworld, there's still a glimmer of possibility. Even if a Switch port doesn't materialize, there's hope that Palworld! More Than Just Pals might eventually find its way to the console.
