Enhanced versions of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, optimized for the new hardware, are also on offer. Please note that not all titles will be available on launch day, June 5. Some games, like Donkey Kong Bananza, won't be released until July 17, and major titles such as Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokémon Legends: Z-A are still absent from preorder listings on both Switch 2 and the current model.
For those looking to enhance their Switch 2 experience, we've also got you covered with a range of new accessories. Whether you're interested in the new Joy-Con 2, Switch 2 Pro controllers, a camera, or more, now is the perfect time to add these to your cart.
Nintendo has confirmed the upgrade costs for two more Switch games to their Switch 2 editions: Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree. These upgrades come with a higher price tag than expected. While upgrading The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom from the original Switch to the Switch 2 costs $9.99, both Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree will cost more than double that amount. Although precise U.S. prices are not yet available on the American Nintendo eShop, the UK Nintendo eShop lists the upgrade pack for £16.99 / €19.99, significantly more than the £7.99 / €9.99 charged for the Zelda titles.

It has been revealed that most physical third-party Nintendo Switch 2 games in Japan are Game-Key Cards, and a similar trend is emerging in the West. In the US, Sega's Switch 2 games, such as Sonic X Shadow Generations and Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut, are listed as Game-Key Cards. We've identified only four third-party physical Switch 2 games that are not Game-Key Cards: Cyberpunk 2077, Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion, Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, and No Sleep For Kaname Date - From AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES Aiba Edition.
IGN recently had the opportunity to preview two of the most anticipated Switch 2 launch titles, Donkey Kong Bananza and Mario Kart World, both available for preorder now. Here's what our team had to say:
Donkey Kong Bananza: "I also think Bananza is on track to be one of the most visually stunning Nintendo games I’ve seen. It truly leverages the Switch 2's hardware – the environments are breathtaking, and DK’s animations are wonderfully expressive. I left feeling like the next generation of first-party Nintendo games had truly arrived."
Mario Kart World: "Mario Kart World feels like the definitive Switch 2 launch game and will certainly be one of the defining games of the Switch 2 generation. The new open world format and Knockout Tour modes are significant additions to the franchise, the visuals are stunning, the gameplay is a blast, and we can’t wait to play more, even if we wish it was a few dollars cheaper."
2025 is shaping up to be an exciting year for game releases. Alongside the Switch 2, there are numerous other great games on the horizon. Check out our other preorder guides for titles like Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Doom: The Dark Ages, and more:
