Sega Delays Sonic Rumble for Upcoming Update

May 26,2025

While Sonic Rumble fans eagerly anticipated the game's global debut, Sega has announced a delay in its release. The multiplayer battle royale, which had already garnered over 1.4 million pre-registrations, was set to launch amidst a vibrant pre-launch crossover event featuring iconic Sega classics like Super Monkey Ball and Altered Beast. However, Sega has decided to postpone the launch to focus on refining the game further.

The delay coincides with the preparation of the highly anticipated version 1.2 update, which promises to revolutionize the toybox world created by Dr. Eggman. This update introduces several new features designed to enhance the core gameplay experience. Players can look forward to Rumble Rankings, which will allow them to climb seasonal leaderboards and earn rewards. The introduction of Crews will enable players and their friends to tackle score missions together, fostering a more collaborative environment. Additionally, the new Skills system will equip characters with unique abilities, adding a strategic layer to the gameplay.

Instead of rushing the release, Sega has chosen to take the necessary time to ensure these features are fully optimized. In the meantime, fans can stay engaged through a Q&A session scheduled for May 2nd on Discord. This session will provide insights into what's next for Sonic Rumble and offer an opportunity for players to ask their burning questions.
