S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl has revealed its upcoming development roadmap for Q2 2025, featuring significant upgrades including enhanced mod support, A-Life system improvements, and additional content.
Developer GSC Game World announced plans for regular quarterly updates following STALKER 2's Q2 2025 roadmap. The official STALKER Twitter account shared details of the planned improvements on April 14.
The studio outlined its commitment to quarterly roadmap breakdowns with detailed patch notes verifying implemented changes. This follows successful Q1 updates that addressed major technical issues through multiple hotfixes.
Responding to player feedback, developers have planned these key improvements:
GSC Game World highlighted two major focus areas for Q2: modding support and the A-Life ecosystem. The studio will conduct closed beta testing with selected mod creators before releasing the ModKit publicly, with planned integration for Mod.io and Steam Workshop.
The A-Life system will receive substantial upgrades to NPC behavior and world simulation. Following December 2024's major 110GB update, developers will implement persistent A-Life improvements and smarter combat AI including better cover usage and limited grenade mechanics.
Mutant behaviors will be enhanced with corpse consumption mechanics and improved threat response systems. Additional Q2 updates include lootable mutant corpses, skipped shader compilation options, expanded inventory space, widescreen support, two new armaments, and ongoing performance refinements.
The studio also confirmed a next-generation upgrade for the original STALKER trilogy. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is currently available on Xbox Series X|S and PC platforms.
