Star Wars: Hunters to Shut Down Before First Anniversary

Star Wars: Hunters is facing an early shutdown, yet it will still celebrate its one-year anniversary before closing its doors. But, is it worth celebrating the anniversary of a game that's on its way out? That's a question many fans are pondering as they reflect on the game's short-lived journey.

When Is the Star Wars: Hunters Shutdown?

The servers for Star Wars: Hunters are scheduled to shut down on October 1st, 2025, marking the end of the game just nine months after its launch. Players have been given a grace period to wrap up Season 5, which concludes on April 15th.

Zynga, the game's developer and publisher, is rolling out a final content update on April 15th, featuring a new Support Hunter named Tuya, available for free. On the same day, in-game purchases will be disabled.

Ranked Mode will remain active until the servers go offline, and events from the season will be rerun. It's crucial for players to use up any unspent Crystals, as there won't be any refunds offered.

It Isn’t Shocking

While it's disappointing, the shutdown of Star Wars: Hunters isn't entirely surprising. The game faced numerous delays since its announcement in 2020, with beta testing limited to the SEA and ANZAC regions. A delayed launch, lack of major console support, and a lukewarm reception have all contributed to this outcome.

From a design perspective, the game missed an opportunity by not leveraging the iconic characters of the Star Wars universe, opting instead for generic original characters.
