Star Wars: Outlaws, the highly anticipated open-world space adventure from Ubisoft, was previously confirmed for release on the Nintendo Switch 2. However, fresh details have emerged indicating that the game will not launch alongside the new console when it hits shelves on June 5. Instead, Star Wars: Outlaws is now scheduled to arrive a few months later on September 4.

For those who may have missed its initial launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, Star Wars: Outlaws is set in the expansive galaxy between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The story follows Kay Vess, a fledgling outlaw caught in a dangerous conflict after acquiring a deadly bounty placed on her by a ruthless cartel. Our reviewer awarded the title a 7 out of 10, praising it as “a fun intergalactic heist adventure with excellent exploration,” though noting drawbacks such as simplistic stealth mechanics, repetitive combat, and several technical issues at launch.

While Ubisoft offered little additional information beyond confirming the new release date and platform availability, the update allows us to refresh the [Switch 2 Games List] accordingly. With uncertainty still lingering around pre-orders for North American gamers due to ongoing tariff evaluations by Nintendo, any new development regarding Switch 2 titles is certainly a welcomed bit of news.

The announcement was made during a special panel at Star Wars Celebration Japan, where Ubisoft also unveiled details about the game’s upcoming downloadable content. Titled A Pirate’s Fortune, the second story pack will follow Kay Vess as she teams up with the fan-favorite character Hondo Ohnaka to take down Stinger Tash, the formidable leader of the Rokana Raiders.

Star Wars: Outlaws – A Pirate’s Fortune will be released separately on May 15, offering players more opportunities to dive into the rich storytelling and immersive world that the base game provides.
