It seems that we might have a sneak peek at the title for the sequel to *The Super Mario Bros. Movie*, thanks to an early announcement from NBCUniversal. A press release intended to highlight the company's Upfront Showcase inadvertently revealed *Super Mario World* as one of the upcoming films set to be released on Peacock, the streaming service of Universal Pictures and Illumination.
The internet quickly caught on to this slip-up, and it wasn't long before Universal revised the press release, scrubbing any mention of Mario from the text. A tweet from Wario64 captured the change, showcasing the original mention of *Super Mario World* alongside other films like *Shrek* and *Minions*:

It's interesting to note that the initial press release grouped *Super Mario World* with *Shrek* and *Minions*, which are known to be *Shrek 5* and *Minions 3*. This grouping suggests that *Super Mario World* might not be the final title for the Mario sequel but could be an umbrella term similar to how the other films are listed. After all, *Shrek 5* isn't simply titled *Shrek*, and *Minions 3* isn't just *Minions*.
However, *Super Mario World* stands out as a more specific title than a generic *Super Mario* or *Super Mario Bros.*, lending some credibility to the speculation. If *Super Mario World* turns out to be the actual title, it would certainly resonate well with fans, evoking memories of the beloved 1990s video game.
