Supercell Hires for Film and TV: Clash of Clans Movie in the Works?

Could Clash of Clans, or another major Supercell property, be making its way to the big screen? It's a possibility that's gaining traction as the Finnish mobile gaming giant, Supercell, has initiated a search for a senior film and TV development executive. This move echoes the path taken by another Finnish developer, Rovio, which successfully brought Angry Birds to cinemas back in 2016.

While it's tempting to think Supercell might be on the brink of announcing a movie project, the job listing suggests a more strategic approach. As noted by PocketGamer.biz, the role isn't about immediately launching into film production. Instead, it involves crafting a comprehensive strategy for both live-action and animated projects, considering both theatrical releases and streaming platforms.

In business terms, this signals a "watch-and-wait" strategy. However, it's likely that Supercell is already sketching out preliminary plans for how they might venture into the film and animation space, should they decide to proceed.

Clash for the agesSupercell has been pushing boundaries with their game catalog, engaging in exciting crossovers and collaborations, like their recent partnership with WWE. This trend suggests that expanding into films could be a natural next step for the developer.

Even though a significant amount of time has passed since Clash of Clans was first released, it's worth remembering that the highly successful Angry Birds movie hit theaters roughly seven years after the game's debut. Clash of Clans still boasts a robust audience, and Supercell has newer IPs like Mo.co that could be ideal for a more family-oriented film.

We'll have to keep an eye on how this unfolds. In the meantime, if you're looking for something to keep you entertained, check out our list of the top five new mobile games to try this week.
