Hello, readers! Welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 28th, 2024. Yesterday's presentation was packed with exciting announcements, wasn't it? Many games even saw surprise releases! This typically quiet Wednesday is anything but, and that's great news for gamers. We've got news, a look at today's eShop additions, and the usual sales updates. Let's dive in!
Partner/Indie World Showcase Delivers Big
Nintendo's decision to combine two smaller showcases proved effective, delivering a wave of announcements. Highlights include several surprise releases (detailed below), Capcom Fighting Collection 2, the Suikoden I & II remakes, Yakuza Kiwami, Tetris Forever, MySims, Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition, new entries in the Atelier and Rune Factory series, and much more. Watch the video for the full rundown – it's well worth your time!
A third Castlevania collection joins the fray, a welcome surprise from the Direct. This one features the three Nintendo DS titles: Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia. It also includes the infamous arcade game, Haunted Castle, alongside an improved M2 remake. This collection offers excellent emulation and a wealth of features, making it an incredible value.
This Wario Land-inspired platformer sprints onto the Switch. Conquer five massive floors of the Pizza Tower to save your restaurant. Fans of Wario's handheld adventures will especially appreciate this, but even those who aren't Wario enthusiasts should consider it if they enjoy challenging platformers. A review is planned.
Another surprise release! It's Goat Simulator 3. The chaotic goat antics continue. Performance on the Switch remains to be seen, as more powerful systems have faced some challenges. Proceed with caution, but even poor performance might add to the game's inherent absurdity. Silly goats, silly antics, and potential Switch-induced technical difficulties – the choice is yours.
Electronic Arts' decision to not bring PopCap games to Switch seems like a missed opportunity. For Peggle fans, Peglin is a great alternative. This mobile hit now graces the Switch, blending Peggle mechanics with turn-based RPG roguelite elements. A review is coming soon.
Kairosoft injects new life into its shop simulation formula with this Doraemon licensed title. The familiar Kairosoft gameplay is enhanced with charming Doraemon characters and even some cameos from the manga artist's other works. A cute and enjoyable addition to the genre.
More Pico Park for existing fans. Up to eight players can enjoy local or online multiplayer, making cooperation key to solving puzzle stages. A solid sequel, but unlikely to draw in many new players.
A budget-friendly rhythm game featuring Kamitsubaki Studio's music. Simple, but enjoyable for the price.
A classic Sokoban-style puzzler with a penguin twist. One hundred levels of crate-pushing challenges.
Over three hundred quirky physics-based puzzles. Utilize character abilities and drawing mechanics to solve problems. Supports up to four players locally or online.
