TownsFolk Unveils Major Update: New Mechanics, Structures, and Compendium Added

Short Circuit Studio has recently unveiled an exciting new update for their newly launched settlement builder game, TownsFolk. Titled "Shadows and Fortune," this update introduces a darker tone to the charming pixel-art adventure, bringing with it a host of new mechanics for players to explore.

Even though TownsFolk is fresh on the market, the developers aren't holding back on deepening the gameplay experience. The "Shadows and Fortune" update adds new buildings and challenges that significantly alter the gameplay dynamics. Players will need to be on their toes as roaming Barbarians introduce tension to both campaign missions and Skirmish mode. Additionally, eight new structures are being added, including the Altar, Town Square, Blacksmith, Aqueduct, Bank, Granary, Factory, and Terraformer, each offering unique functionalities to enhance your settlement.

The aquatic environment is getting a splash of excitement with the introduction of the rare Whale in water tiles. Furthermore, the unpredictability of the game is heightened with the addition of Special Locations such as ancient Obelisks and new Shipwrecks.

To help players navigate through the expanded world of TownsFolk, a new Compendium will serve as an in-game encyclopedia, keeping track of all the new additions. The Exploration System has also been revamped, and players can now adjust Campaign Difficulties between Frontier and Survival modes for a tailored experience.
