Pokemon GO Unova Tour: Black and White Kyurem and Shiny Meloetta Debut!
Get ready, trainers! Black Kyurem and White Kyurem are finally arriving in Pokémon GO as part of the Pokémon GO Tour: Unova, along with a Shiny Meloetta! Learn how to capture and fuse these legendary Pokémon below.
Following the December 2024 announcement of the Unova Tour (February 2025), Niantic has revealed the exciting addition of Black Kyurem, White Kyurem, and Shiny Meloetta.
From February 21st to 23rd, 2025, attendees of the in-person events in New Taipei City, Taiwan, and Los Angeles, USA, can catch and fuse Kyurem into its Black and White forms. To begin, trainers must defeat Black or White Kyurem in five-star raids to obtain the base Kyurem.
Once caught, Kyurem can be fused with either Zekrom or Reshiram. This fusion unlocks powerful new attacks: Freeze Shock (Black Kyurem) and Ice Burn (White Kyurem). Here's what you'll need:
Fusion Energy is earned by defeating Black or White Kyurem in raids. Reversing the fusion back to base Kyurem requires no energy or candy. Plus, there's an increased chance of encountering Shiny Kyurem, Reshiram, and Zekrom during the event!
For those unable to attend the in-person events, a global event, Pokémon GO Tour: Unova - Global, will run March 1st and 2nd, 2025. This event is free for all players!
In addition to Kyurem's alternate forms, Shiny Meloetta is making its first appearance in Pokémon GO! In-person event ticket holders can complete a Masterwork Research to encounter this melodious Pokémon. Don't worry about time constraints; the research doesn't expire!
Kyurem, Reshiram, Zekrom, and Meloetta originally appeared in Pokémon Black and White, the fifth generation of Pokémon games set in the Unova region. The first three are encountered in the main storyline, while Meloetta is obtained upon completion. Pokémon Black and White 2 introduced Kyurem's alternate forms, which, like their Pokémon GO counterparts, learn Ice Burn and Freeze Shock.
With the arrival of the Tao Trio's alternate forms, trainers can now fully experience the wonders of Unova in Pokémon GO for a limited time in February and globally in March!
