Ubisoft has announced another delay for Assassin's Creed Shadows, pushing the release date to March 20, 2025. Initially slated for a February 14th launch, this marks a five-week postponement from the previously announced date. The publisher cites the need for further refinement and polishing based on player feedback as the reason for the delay.
The game's journey to release has been marked by setbacks. A significant three-month delay was announced in September 2024, shifting the launch from November 15th to February 14th. While the initial delay was attributed to unspecified development challenges, this latest postponement directly addresses player feedback.
Marc-Alexis Coté, the game's vice president executive producer, emphasized Ubisoft's commitment to delivering a high-quality experience through ongoing player-developer communication. Both delays, according to Coté, provide crucial time for refining and polishing the game.
Release Date: March 20, 2025
Following the September delay, Ubisoft offered pre-order refunds and free access to the first expansion as compensation. Whether similar incentives will be offered for this shorter delay remains unannounced.
This additional delay might also be connected to Ubisoft's internal investigation into its development practices, launched to enhance player focus. Given the company's recent financial challenges and a goal of becoming more "player-centric," incorporating fan feedback into Assassin's Creed Shadows aligns with this strategic shift.
