Hearthstone returns to the Un'Goro Crater in its upcoming expansion, The Lost City of Un'Goro, launching on July 8. While Un'Goro first appeared in Hearthstone back in 2017, this release brings a fresh narrative and refined gameplay.
The update introduces 145 new cards, a brand-new keyword, and the return of several mechanics. Plus, a new storyline takes you on an expedition into the long-concealed city.
The Lost City of Un'Goro expansion follows Loh, a Tortollan explorer, guiding a team into the forgotten city. Elise Starseeker acts as navigator, while former Tortollan leader Umbra serves as their guide. Unbeknownst to Loh, Umbra has her own hidden agenda, which unfolds throughout the set.
Now for the exciting part! The Lost City of Un'Goro adds a new Hearthstone keyword called Kindred. A Kindred card grants a bonus effect if you played a card of the same minion type or spell school on your previous turn. Kindred triggers based on your last turn's play, not the same turn.
Quest cards are also returning. These 1-cost Legendary spells begin in your opening hand, with each class receiving a new Quest. After meeting the card's conditions, you'll earn a powerful reward.
Seven Story cards draw inspiration from the original Un'Goro set, letting you revisit past expeditions in the Un'Goro Crater through references to events and characters.
The expansion also includes six new Map cards. Playing a Map lets you discover a card from three choices. If you play the chosen card that same turn, you also receive one of the other two options. Otherwise, you keep only the first pick.
