PS5 Price Rises Again in Europe, Australia, New Zealand

Sony has announced an increase in the recommended retail prices (RRP) of PlayStation 5 consoles across Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. The decision, driven by "a challenging economic environment, including high inflation and fluctuating exchange rates," reflects ongoing global financial pressures.

The updated pricing was confirmed in an official post on the PlayStation Blog.

New PS5 RRPs (effective April 14):

Europe
PS5 Digital Edition – €500
(No change for the standard PS5 with disc drive)

UK
PS5 Digital Edition – £430
(No change for the standard PS5 with disc drive)

Australia
Standard PS5 with disc drive – AUD $830
PS5 Digital Edition – AUD $750

New Zealand
Standard PS5 with disc drive – NZD $950
PS5 Digital Edition – NZD $860

Notably, the PS5 Pro remains unaffected by this price adjustment and retains its current RRP.

This follows similar RRP increases implemented in 2022, making the PS5 significantly more expensive in several regions compared to its original launch pricing.

In Europe and the UK, the PS5 Digital Edition now costs €100 or £70 more than its launch price of €400 and £360, respectively. In Australia, the standard PS5 is priced AUD $80 higher than its original AUD $750 launch cost, while the Digital Edition has risen by AUD $150 from AUD $600. In New Zealand, the standard PS5 is now NZD $130 more expensive (up from NZD $820), and the Digital Edition has increased by NZD $210 (from NZD $650).

However, there is some relief: the RRP of the standard PS5 with a disc drive is being reduced by €80 in Europe, £70 in the UK, AUD $125 in Australia, and NZD $140 in New Zealand.
