Warner Bros. Discovery Confirms Hogwarts Legacy Sequel is a Top Priority
Following the successful launch of Quidditch Champions, Warner Bros. Discovery has officially announced plans for a sequel to the immensely popular 2023 action RPG, Hogwarts Legacy – the year's best-selling game with over 24 million copies sold.
The sequel is slated for release within the next few years. Warner Bros. Discovery CFO, Gunnar Wiedenfels, revealed this news during Bank of America’s 2024 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference, as reported by Variety. Wiedenfels stated that a Hogwarts Legacy successor is "one of the biggest priorities in a couple of years down the road," highlighting its significant potential for future growth.
Further emphasizing the game's success, Warner Bros. Games' David Haddad noted the high replayability factor in an earlier interview with Variety. He highlighted that many players have revisited the game multiple times, contributing to its remarkable sales figures. Haddad also praised the game's ability to bring the Harry Potter world to life in a new and engaging way for gamers, allowing for personalized experiences within the narrative. This resonated strongly with the community, propelling Hogwarts Legacy to the top of the best-selling game charts, a position typically occupied by established franchises' sequels.
