Gameplay Overview:
101 Okey is a multi-round game for four players. The goal is to minimize your points at the end of all rounds. The player with the fewest points wins. Points are tallied based on the numbers on remaining tiles (e.g., red 3 = 3 points, black 11 = 11 points). The game concludes when the tile deck is empty or a player completes their hand.
Game Setup and Turns:
After determining the dealer, 21 tiles are dealt to each player, with the player to the dealer's right receiving 22. One tile is left face up to determine the joker (Okey tile). Gameplay proceeds counter-clockwise. The player with 22 tiles starts by discarding a tile without drawing. Subsequent players either draw a tile from the deck or take the discarded tile. A player can open their hand (place their sets on the table) once they reach 101 points. If unable to open, a tile must be discarded. Each player must discard a tile at the end of their turn, even after opening their hand.
Jokers (Okey Tiles/Riziko):
The joker tile changes each game. Two tiles one number higher than the face-up tile act as jokers. These "fake jokers" are visually distinct. For example, if the face-up tile is a blue 5, the two blue 6s are the jokers, and they are counted as blue 6s.
Opening Hands and Sets:
To open a hand, you need at least 101 points. This requires at least three sets of tiles: three or four tiles of the same number but different colors, or a sequential run of three or more tiles of the same color. Tiles can be added to existing sets on the table as long as the player has at least 101 points and opens their hand. You can open your hand and add to others' sets in the same round. If a player takes a discarded tile, they must use it in a set or to open their hand; it cannot remain in their hand. If they can't use it, they replace it and draw a new tile from the deck (no penalty).
Doubles:
Alternatively, you can open your hand with at least five pairs of identical tiles. Opening with doubles prevents opening a regular set in that round, but you can still add to others' sets.
