The ability to manipulate the environment through destruction offers players innovative tactical options. According to the Community Update, DICE is enhancing gameplay depth by enabling players to reshape their surroundings. Whether it's breaching a wall for an ambush or forging a new path to a strategic point, removing obstacles can be a game-changer.

"We're designing destruction around easily identifiable visual and audio language that lets you understand what can be destroyed, altered, or transformed through gameplay," DICE stated. "We aim to make destruction an integral part of your Battlefield experience to create an intuitive, fun, and rewarding environment where you feel empowered to shape the world around you."

Different methods of causing destruction will affect structures uniquely; while explosives can bring down walls, sustained gunfire can also chip away at them, allowing players to shoot through. Audio and visual effects will signal to players that their actions are having an impact.

Moreover, the aftermath of destruction leaves lasting effects on the battlefield. Debris from a partially destroyed building, for instance, can serve as cover, adding a dynamic layer to the gameplay. It's clear that destruction is a central focus for the next Battlefield title.

Dubbed "Battlefield 6" by fans, the next game is gradually coming together. Although official details are sparse, gameplay leaks have garnered enthusiastic responses from the community. The game is set to return to a modern setting and is anticipated to launch within Electronic Arts' fiscal year 2026, spanning from April 2025 to March 2026.
