Eleven years after its initial release, Far Cry 4 has been updated to run at a smooth 60 frames per second (fps) on the PlayStation 5. This enhancement was discovered by user gael_74 and shared on the Far Cry 4 subreddit, where the update history for Version 1.08 indicates the addition of "support 60 FPS on PS5 console."

If you haven't experienced Far Cry 4 yet, now is an excellent opportunity to dive in. The game boasts one of the franchise's most memorable antagonists, Pagan Min, and immerses players in a vibrant, expansive open-world set amidst the Himalayan mountains. This isn't merely a scenic backdrop; it's an interactive playground that invites you to engage in combat, hunting, and exploration.

In IGN's review, Far Cry 4 received a commendable 8.5/10 score, praised for its engaging campaign, cooperative, and competitive multiplayer modes, which offer a delightful sense of freedom despite the game's weaker character development.

View 11 ImagesFar Cry 4 joins a growing list of PS4-era Ubisoft titles receiving retrospective enhancements, including Assassin's Creed Syndicate and Assassin's Creed Origins. This update has sparked enthusiasm among fans on the subreddit, who are now eagerly anticipating similar upgrades for other beloved titles such as Far Cry Primal and Far Cry 3.

Unfortunately, the timing of the update was a bit off for some players. One user lamented on the subreddit, "You are kidding right. I just platinumed the game, like, three days ago."

In other Ubisoft news, the company recently established a new subsidiary focused on its Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six franchises, backed by a €1.16 billion (approximately $1.25 billion) investment from Tencent. This move follows the announcement that Assassin's Creed Shadows surpassed 3 million players, a critical milestone given Ubisoft's recent challenges, including high-profile flops, layoffs, studio closures, and game cancellations. The success of Shadows is pivotal for Ubisoft, especially after its stock hit an all-time low.

Additionally, Ubisoft has subtly introduced Steam Achievements to the 12-year-old Splinter Cell: Blacklist, further expanding its offerings on the platform.
