Insider: GTA 6 special edition and additional GTA Online payments can cost up to $150

Take-Two Interactive, the publisher of the Grand Theft Auto franchise, was a driving force behind the introduction of the "$70" price point for high-budget games. Concerns exist that they might push pricing even further with the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI.

While a standard edition of GTA VI might remain in the $70 range, avoiding a price tag of $80-$100, industry insiders suggest a premium edition priced at $100-$150 could be offered, potentially including early access.

Adding to this, Tez2, a known industry leaker, notes that Take-Two already sells GTA Online and Red Dead Online separately. However, GTA VI will be the first title where the online component will be sold separately at launch, with the story mode bundled as part of a "complete package."

This separate online sale will undoubtedly impact pricing. The question becomes: how much will the online portion contribute to the base game's price? And what will be the cost of the story mode upgrade for those who purchase the standalone GTA VI Online?

By offering a lower-priced online version, Take-Two could attract players unable to afford the full $70 or $80 game. This strategy is advantageous because these players could then upgrade to access the story mode. Furthermore, some players might desire the story mode but lack the funds for the upgrade, creating another revenue stream.

Take-Two could further capitalize on this by offering a subscription model similar to Xbox Game Pass, leveraging GTA+. Players who continue playing the online component instead of saving for the upgrade will generate consistent revenue, ultimately benefiting Take-Two.
