Persona 4 Remake Announced With New Cast

The highly anticipated Persona 4 remake appears increasingly likely, as original voice cast member Yuri Lowenthal confirms his absence from the unannounced project.

Lowenthal, known for voicing Yosuke Hanamura in Persona 4 and subsequent spin-offs, revealed on BlueSky that he wasn't asked to reprise his role for the remake.

"To everyone asking - no, I won't be returning as Yosuke for the Persona 4 remake," Lowenthal stated. "I inquired, even pleaded, but they've decided to go in another direction."

The "they" presumably refers to Atlus, though the developer hasn't officially confirmed the remake's existence. We've contacted Sega/Atlus for clarification.

This news emerges amidst the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, where video game actors continue advocating for AI protections. While Lowenthal acknowledges his union membership, it remains unclear if this influenced casting decisions. SAG-AFTRA's March update noted ongoing disagreements with industry negotiators.

The remake rumors gained traction earlier this year following domain registration discoveries and insider leaks. Following Persona 3 Reload's success, a Persona 4 remake seems like the logical next step.

If development mirrors Persona 3 Reload's timeline - announced during summer 2023's Xbox Game Showcase - we might see official confirmation in upcoming summer gaming events.

For Persona fans awaiting new content, Persona 5: The Phantom X launches June 26, 2025 for mobile and PC platforms.
