Remedy's latest annual report confirms that Control 2 has cleared its concept validation phase and entered full-scale development, marking a crucial step forward for the highly anticipated sequel.
The studio currently has two other major titles in active development: FBC: Firebreak and the Max Payne 1+2 remakes. While these projects were in pre-production a year ago, both have now progressed to more advanced development stages. Notably, the previously announced Kestrel project in collaboration with Tencent was officially canceled in May 2023.
All current projects utilize Remedy's proprietary Northlight engine, the same technology that delivered the stunning visuals of Alan Wake 2 and previous studio releases.
Financially, Control 2 boasts a substantial €50 million budget for self-publishing across Xbox Series, PS5, and PC platforms. FBC: Firebreak follows with a €30 million budget, planned for release through PlayStation and Xbox subscription services alongside Steam and Epic Games Store.
While budget details remain undisclosed for the Max Payne remakes, Rockstar Games is fully financing both development and marketing, ensuring these will be AAA-quality experiences.
