Stellar Blade DRM Fixes Prepped Ahead of PC Debut

Stellar Blade Developers Respond to DRM and Region Lock Concerns Before PC Launch

Stellar Blade PC Version Updates

SHIFT UP Addresses DRM Controversy

As Stellar Blade prepares for its PC release, developer SHIFT UP has responded to player concerns about the inclusion of Denuvo DRM. In a May 17 Twitter post, the studio clarified that "DRM has been carefully optimized to maintain consistent frame rates, with potential improvements to minimum frames in certain scenarios."

The anti-piracy technology, known for sparking debate within gaming communities, traditionally safeguards against unauthorized distribution but often faces criticism for potential performance impacts. SHIFT UP's performance tests comparing DRM-enabled and DRM-free versions showed nearly identical results across average, minimum, and maximum frame rates.

Importantly, the developers confirmed full mod support without restrictions - a significant concern with DRM-protected titles. While fans appreciated the transparency, many continue advocating for complete removal of Denuvo to enhance accessibility.

Regional Availability Challenges

Another pressing issue involves PlayStation's regional restrictions. Despite not requiring PSN connectivity, the PC version faces availability limitations mirroring PSN's geographic constraints - currently affecting players in over 130 unsupported countries.

SHIFT UP assured players they're actively collaborating with publishers to resolve these regional access issues promptly. The studio emphasized consistency across platforms, guaranteeing PC and PS5 versions will offer identical content to prevent early adopters from disadvantages through later updates.

With the Steam launch scheduled for June 11, the developers continue working to address community concerns while maintaining the game's security and performance standards.
