Elden Ring: Beloved Communication Feature Axed

Elden Ring: Nightreign will omit the in-game messaging feature, a departure from FromSoftware's tradition. Project director Junya Ishizaki explained this decision in a recent interview, citing the game's approximately forty-minute play sessions as too short for meaningful message exchange. The brevity of gameplay sessions makes sending and reading messages impractical.

This change is notable given the significant role messaging has played in enhancing player interaction and enjoyment in previous FromSoftware titles. However, the development team deemed the feature unsuitable for Nightreign's design.

To maintain the integrity of the original Elden Ring, Nightreign features a separate narrative. It promises a fresh adventure, introducing unique challenges and encounters while preserving the atmospheric richness and intricate design of the Elden Ring world.
