Lost Soul Aside Polished, Delayed Three Months

Ultizero Games, the developer, has announced a three-month delay for Lost Soul Aside, shifting its release from May 30 to August 29, 2025.

After nearly a decade in development, the single-player action title for PC and PlayStation 5 was finally slated for a launch next month. However, a statement from the studio explained the postponement to late September is to allow for additional polish.

"We are deeply thankful for the positive reception from players worldwide since Lost Soul Aside's announcement," Ultizero Games stated.

"Our commitment to delivering a high-quality game experience remains unwavering. To meet the standards we have set for ourselves at Ultizero Games, we require a bit more time for final refinements. The new global release date is now August 29, 2025. We sincerely appreciate the continued patience and support of our fans."

What began as the passion project of solo developer Yang Bing has evolved into a major title published by Sony under its China Hero Project initiative. Bing is now the founder and CEO of Shanghai-based Ultizero Games.

IGN recently spoke with Yang Bing about the game's long development journey. Lost Soul Aside's path from a single creator's vision to a trailer featured in a Sony State of Play broadcast spans many years. Throughout this time, anticipation has grown significantly, with many praising its intriguing fusion of Final Fantasy-esque characters and Devil May Cry-style combat—a comparison that emerged immediately after Yang Bing's initial reveal video went viral in 2016.

Players control the protagonist, Kesar, who wields a shapeshifting weapon. Switching its form alters your combat style. He is also aided by a dragon-like companion named Arena, who can summon supportive abilities.

Inspired by its genre predecessors, Lost Soul Aside focuses on aerial evasion, precise timing, combo execution, and counter-attacks, alongside epic boss encounters. The game merges a sci-fi foundation with diverse contemporary aesthetics, guiding players through a multidimensional campaign. While the story's direction remains mysterious from the trailers, Bing describes Kesar's journey as one centered on "redemption and discovery."
